1st Roadtrip

This weekend we took our first road trip to Owensboro for the Fitzmaurice wedding with all our friends from Madisonville. Adele did well and slept most of the time in the car and was easily pacified with her bottle when she woke up. Before the wedding we stopped by Camp Pennyroyal where I spent several summers as a camp counselor. It was so nice to be back but we were roasting in the 98 degree heat! Adele was a good girl and slept through the ceremony, cried nonstop on the way to the reception, and calmed down again at the reception. She had a blast dancing with her dad to some black eyed peas and of course "billie jean". She still loves water as seen by the happy face in the bath picture, and last night Dad turned her bib backwards to make her into a superhero!

1 Month Checkup

Yesterday Adele had her 1 month checkup (although she's 5 1/2 wks). She gained 3 lbs and grew 1 inch so far! She's doing 1/2 rolls and does a good job pushing up on her arms and trying to crawl. Getting much more alert when she's awake and is trying to take everything in. Still is fussy at night but slowly getting better. Last night she even slept 4 hrs straight!

1 Month

Hard to believe, but Adele is already one month old. This week we've been busy. We've gone to our first Louisville Bats Baseball game, been on a lot of walks, and have been working on developing a double chin. Grandma and Grandpa even babysat last Friday so Mom and Dad could go out to dinner. Memorial Day we spent over at Uncle Drew and Aunt Kristin's with lots of family and good food. We also got a swing the other day which I seem to like most of the time. I still have't gotten in much of a schedule yet. Somedays I sleep well during day, not at night, and the next day will be the opposite. We got the vinyl wall clings from my aunts uppercase living company so I'm finally putting pictures of the nursery up.

Adele's Arrival

For those who don't know the story, here is how Adele arrived on Mother's Day. I had an uneventful pregnancy with no complications and was supposed to have an ultrasound to check on everything that upcoming week. That Sat. morning Dave, my parents, and the Strange's went to the zoo for a 5K run/walk. It was a beautiful morning and I walked the race with no problems except a slow pace. Then we came back and rested for awhile and went to lunch with our friend Brian. The only problem I was having at this point was indigestion. After lunch I headed to Z Spa for my massage Dave had gotten me for my birthday. Halfway through the massage I felt some "leakage" and told the masseuse I needed to go to the bathroom. In the bathroom I noticed things were definitely not normal and I came back out and told them I wasn't feeling well and left. I called Dave to meet me back at the house. Now, mind you, on my to do list that weekend was to back a hospital bag and install the car seat, both of which we hadn't done yet. I called my OB office and they told me to go on over to the hospital. They checked me in and I was already fully effaced and 2 cm dilated and apparently having contractions every 2-3 min ( I was just starting to feel those). After that, things progressed steadily, and with the help of a wonderful epidural, rather painless. At 2:57 am, little Adele Leigh joined the world 5 wks early but 6.5 lbs already and completely healthy!

The first week

We were definitely happy to go home from the hospital that Tuesday. Unfortunately we had to take our "tanning bed" home and use it for the first couple of days, which she really wasn't happy about. We had tons of visitors and were very thankful for all the delicious meals friends made us.

Grandma's Visit

Grandma Terri flew down last week to visit and we loved our time with her. Besides keeping Dave and I very well fed, she got to bond a lot with her newest granddaughter and was definitely a champion swaddler!

Adele Week 2

I've been growing a lot this week. Finally filling out some of my rolls. With all this eating does come some problems and my poor tummy has been gaseous which makes me upset, especially at night. I've enjoyed my last week with dad here during the day and he can always make me stop crying by making me fly! Here are some pics from this week.
